What does this policy cover?
This policy only covers the Sleep Journal by Vei Helse mobile app.
It does not cover the logged-in Vei Helse platform, care pathways run by a clinic, municipality, or other organisation, or the public website veihelse.no. If you open links to veihelse.no from the app, the website privacy policy applies to your use of the website.
What information exists in the app?
The app lets you enter sleep-related information, such as:
- the date of the sleep entry
- times for going to bed, falling asleep, waking, and getting up
- number of awakenings and time awake during the night
- self-rated sleep quality
- daytime sleep
- sleep medication and alcohol that you choose to record
- free-text notes that you write yourself
- app settings such as language and appearance
This information is stored locally in the app storage on your device. Vei Helse does not have access to it.
What is sent to Vei Helse?
Sleep Journal by Vei Helse does not send sleep entries, app settings, or app usage to Vei Helse.
The app has no Vei Helse login, no learner ID, no guide ID, no clinic or tenant ID, and no sync with the Vei Helse platform.
If you contact Vei Helse by email or through the website, we process the information you send so that we can respond. Do not send sleep entries, health information, or other sensitive information by email or through website forms unless we specifically ask you to.
Analytics, tracking, and ads
The app does not use:
- ads
- advertising IDs
- behavioural marketing
- third-party analytics tools
- tracking across apps or websites
- reporting of health or sleep behaviour to third parties
Apple and Google may process technical information related to downloads, updates, app store payments, security, and crash diagnostics under their own terms and privacy policies. This is controlled by the app stores and the operating system, not by the app.
Storage and deletion
Your sleep entries remain in the app on your device until you delete them. You can delete all sleep entries from Settings in the app. You can also delete the app from your device to remove app data that the operating system deletes on uninstall.
Depending on your device settings, the operating system may include local app data in device backups. Such backups are controlled by Apple or Google and by your device settings. Vei Helse does not receive the contents of those backups.
Security
Information in the app is stored in the app’s local storage area. It is protected by the security mechanisms on your device and by your settings, such as screen lock, biometrics, device encryption, and backup settings.
The app does not encrypt sleep entries with a separate app-specific encryption key. We recommend using a screen lock on your device and only sharing the device with people you trust.
Legal basis
When you use the app, the app processes information locally on your device to provide the features you choose to use. Vei Helse does not receive your sleep entries.
If local processing in the app is considered processing of personal data, the purpose is to provide the app functionality you request. Information you choose to enter about sleep, medication, alcohol, or health-adjacent circumstances may be sensitive. You decide whether to enter this information, and you can delete it in the app. Where the information is considered special category personal data, the processing is based on your explicit choice to enter the information and use it in the app, see GDPR Article 9(2)(a).
If you contact Vei Helse, we process your inquiry to respond and follow up the dialogue. The legal basis is normally legitimate interests under GDPR Article 6(1)(f), and contract or steps before entering into a contract under GDPR Article 6(1)(b) may also apply if the inquiry concerns a possible agreement.
Sharing
Vei Helse does not sell personal data from the app. Since the app does not send sleep entries to Vei Helse, we do not share those entries with others.
If you use external links, email, or the website, relevant service providers may process information to provide the website, email, security, and operations. This is covered by the privacy policy for veihelse.no and by the providers’ own terms where relevant.
Your rights
Because sleep entries are stored locally on your device and are not sent to Vei Helse, Vei Helse normally cannot access, correct, export, or delete this information for you. You can view, change, and delete data in the app yourself.
For personal data you have sent to Vei Helse, for example by email or through the website, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability where the rules give you that right, or object to processing based on legitimate interests.
If you believe we process personal data incorrectly, you can contact us at kontakt@veihelse.no. You may also complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).
Children
The app is not directed at children. If a child uses the app, this should be done together with a guardian or under guidance from a responsible adult.
Changes
We may update this policy if the app changes or privacy information requirements change. The latest version will state the date of the last update.
